Governor Emmanuel inspects roads in Ikono/Ini Federal constituency

It was a day of joy for the people of Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency as the second year anniversary train of Governor Udom Emmanuel arrived for inspection of ongoing roads executed in the two sister local government areas.

The roads include the 14.1km road project linking Ikpe and Ikot Nkon Ini LGA in Akwa Ibom State with Arochukwu Road in Abia state as well as the 4.6km College of Technology Road, Nung Ukim, Ikono.

At Ini, Mr Emmanuel who had on arrival inspected the 110M span bridge construction undergoing pilling at the moment, and thanked the community for their cooperation that has enhanced the progress of work at the location.

He used the occasion to thank the community for cooperating with the Contractor handling the road construction, noting that the Contractor had never complained of any problem from the community.

He also stated the importance of paying attention to economic values of constructing border towns which invariably should boost commercial activities and announced his intention to further opening up the area with the construction of about 73.6 km road that will link to the rice plantation in Ini local government area.

He promised to look into the electricity problem in the area by reaching out to the Contractor that handled the electrification project.
Present at the Event was the First Lady; Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel,The Deputy Governor; Mr Moses Ekpo,Hon Emmanuel Ekpenyong,Bar Enoidem,Engr Etido Inyang, Mr Akan Okon and a host of other dignitaries.

The Ikpe Ikot Nkon- Obot Mme -Arochukwu road was a major request by the Ini people when the governor when on a campaign visit, two and a half years ago and most of the indigenes who spoke thanked the governor for fulfilling their heart desire after years of broken promises by successive governments especially the recent one by the federal government.
